I hope this blog post finds you and your family safe and
healthy. Where I am from, we are now
about 3 weeks in to this whole quarantine business. You’re probably discovering by now that you
have a ton of time on your hands that you never had before! Today I’ve compiled a list of 120 things you
can do during this quarantine. I
brainstormed for quite a while in order to provide this list for you, so I hope
you’ll find some of it inspiring or helpful.
I’ve divided this list up under headings for easier reading
and organization. If there’s anything I
left out, please comment below and let me know!
Music
1. Create music playlists on your phone.
2. Upload a video to YouTube.
3. Give a home concert over Facebook or YouTube Live.
4. Make a music video.
5. Organize your music.
6. Write a song.
7. Compose a new tune for an old hymn.
8. Play straight through the hymnal.
9. Arrange a hymn.
10. Share videos of musical performances.
11. Listen to good music.
12. Compose “themes” for people.
Just like
each major Star War character has their own theme song (ex. Darth Vader =
Imperial March), create theme songs for others.
Write a unique tune for each member of your family, or for a friend.
13. Learn a new piece.
14. Start a YouTube channel.
15. Create a supplemental hymnal for personal
use.
There are
many places online to find free hymns, including Sovereign Grace, Andy Gleiser,
Doxology, The Wilds, and Grace Music. Browse
these websites to find your favorites, and compile your own supplemental hymnal
in a binder for your own personal use.
16. Start learning a new instrument.
17. Learn a new hymn.
18. Watch a live online concert.
Many pianists
and other music artists are giving free mini-concerts over Facebook Live.
19. Write a silly song.
Think: “Silly
Songs with Larry.” Write a silly song with your own flair!
Blogging/Writing
20. Start a blog.
21. Write blog posts for future use.
22. Schedule blog posts.
23. Update your blog design.
24. Submit an article for publication to a
Christian blog.
The
Rebelution is one of the most popular places for young Christian writers to
submit material for online publication.
Read my recent Rebelution article here.

26. Blog every day for a week.
27. Blog every day for a month.

siblings.

32. Make homemade ice cream.
33. Have a movie night with popcorn.
34. Make homemade playdoh.
35. Have a VeggieTales marathon.
36. Have a Star Wars marathon.
37. Have a Disney Movie marathon.

40. Write + perform + film a skit.
41. Have a prayer time before bed.

43. Have a water balloon fight.
44. Have a friendly competition.
This could
be anything from a pie baking competition to a lip sync battle.
45. Learn a new board game.
46. Create your own Monopoly.
My older
brothers and I did this many years ago. You can create your own board, money, cards,
etc. with whatever theme you want (idea: places in your town). Use little trinkets and doodads for your
player pieces.
47. Do a science experiment.
48. Film a short movie.
49. Recreate famous paintings with things at
home.
50. Watch livestream church services on

breakfast.
Helping Others

54. Thank a nurse.
Through
text/phone call, of course!
55. Bless someone.
How can you
use your unique situation and talents to bless others?
56. Check up on your church family.
Send some texts and emails and see how everyone is doing.
57. Do a drive-by and wave.
If you are
in state/city that still allows you to leave your home for non-essential
things, go on a drive by your friends’ or church members’ houses and wave from
the car. My brothers and I were able to
do this recently and encourage some church friends (from a safe distance)
by shooting them a quick heads-up message and then waving/saying hi as we
passed by.
58. Host a Bible study or prayer meeting over
Zoom.
59. FaceTime a friend.
60. Have an art competition with friends.
Choose a
category and ask all your friends (and you too, of course) to create a piece of
artwork from that category. Have your mothers
or another mutual friend vote on a winner anonymously.
61. Support a local business by ordering
take-out.

You can
create many things from a sweater, including boot socks, fingerless gloves, and
hats.
75. Start a capsule wardrobe.
76. Fix your broken jewelry.
77. Build a 9-square.
Two of my
brothers built a huge 9-square frame this winter that we put to use at our {pre-quarantine}
bonfire back in February.

82. Practice origami.
83. Stargaze.
84. Learn a new skill using Google or YouTube.
85. Read a book on economics.
This is a
perfect time to do a study on economics.
I’ve benefitted so much from taking economics this semester through duel
enrollment, as there is so much real-life application right now.
86. Do an at-home workout.
87. Stretch.
88. Go for a walk.
This, of
course, depends on where you are located.
If you live out in the country or have a big yard like us, use the space
to go for a walk.
89. Go for a morning run.
See above.
90. Create your own recipe.
91. Listen to an audiobook.
92. Take a crash course in a subject of
interest.
93. Memorize a chapter in the Bible.

lists, etc.
107. Catch up on reading blog posts.
108. Read through your old journals.
109. Go through old photos.

You could

the month.
111. Create slideshow videos with photos.
112. Make your own bucket list.
Organization
113. Organize a room in your house.
114. Wash all your whites.
If you’re
anything like me, your white clothing usually stays at the bottom of your laundry
hamper while darks get the priority for washing. Do your whites a favor and give them a wash!
115. Rearrange the layout of a room.
116. Dust.
117. Organize your online photo albums.
118. Organize your Pinterest boards.
119. Organize your bookshelf.
120. Organize stray papers.
Music #3: You said "Give a home concert over Facebook of YouTube Live." I think you meant to say "Facebook or YouTube Live".
ReplyDeleteOther than that I can't think of anything else to really add (:
Hope you have fun while quarantining!
Fixed it! Thanks!
DeleteThanks for the ideas! - Kiara
ReplyDeleteMy please, Kiara!
DeleteI know I already commented on your blog post last week (I think it was last week?) but I would say again to pray. Some of us have a lot more time on our hands than we used to and we can use it to pray and spend more time in Scripture than we normally would.
